Sigma E25 eyeshadow blending brush Travel size

hey all
I am going to review the Sigma E 25 blending brush today. This was sent  by SIGMA to me and have been using it as around 2 weeks now.
I am  okay at eye makeup.Seriously ok,,I mean I do have TBS eyeshadow brushes, but I really don't do smokey looks as often since I feel I look weird in them. After using this brush I realised that  it was because I was not blending my shadows well .They were streaky so they looked weird and garish. Now with this amazing brush ,I have realised that blend blend blend is the key to hot eye makeup!!
About the brush
About Sigma E25 Blending Brush:

splayed  after a wash!!

Oval-shaped brush with gently chiseled sides. Blends and softens the look of powder or cream shadows. Ideal to apply eye shadow primer, base eye shadow colors, and blend harsh lines.

My experience with the brush:
  • It is a compact travel size version of the Sigma E25.The wand is grey with a white brush head.
  • Its a fluffy brush with a tapered end.It can be used for anything....applying shadow, crease, blending of course since it is a blending brush.
  • I also apply my concealer with it and blend for a seamless look and it works wonders!!!:))))
  • It is apparently as effective  as the MAC 217 and cheaper too.(apparently, coz i dont have any MAC but have heard that the two are comparable)
  • It does not shed  after having washed so many times
  • however it splays ,so its important to  reshape it after wash.
  • I  love it and now want to buy the F80 and the e45 which are great as well...but am having some problems with the paypal thing:((((
  • You can have a look at Sigma brushes here.An amazing range ,and easy on the pockets(hello MAC!)

Overall  I love love love it....wish I could get a few more for myself ,But online shopping is a pain!!!!
Do you have this beauty??
?How do you find it??

MAC studio fix powder foundation review

Heloooooo pretty mahilas/kudis,how are you all doing???
Today am back with another review of another foundation.Ya ya ya ...again,but kya karen am always trying(and buying) new ones....and have ample excuses to do so.
This one today is  the MAC studio fix powder foundation. Its a all in one thingie...perfect for lazy souls like me.....
here's the review

What  It Claims:
From the site and the net.
Studio Fix is a powder and foundation in one that combines good coverage with ease of application! One-step application of foundation and powder! Designed to be used dry, the powder and pigments create a matte, velvety texture! It contains Silica, which helps to maintain a matte finish by absorbing oils on the skin as well as Talc to provide a smoother, less reflective, matte finish! The talc has been milled to a microscopic size to provide a beautiful texture while allowing the skin to breathe! Gives skin a smooth, flawless, all-matte, full-coverage finish! Long-wearing: lasts for up to eight hours! A real all-in-one! The choice of Pros and a long time favourite of MAC fans! It is available in a wide range of colours! It can be applied with a brush, sponge or a powder puff!

amount:
15 g / .52 oz

Price ...ahem ahem.....1600 INR.

What is the studio fix powder foundation.
First why did I even want one...

  • I have so many  4 actually liquid ones and 2 souffle ones .Also a powder one.But I did not have powder one from  MAC, you see::P
  • liquid foundations are time consuming and have to be blended really well or they can look streaky...which again means hard work...me lazy..so wanted something quick and easy..esp.when I want to go to work...
  • Its terribly hot and humid in Mumbai and I wanted a matte look for the summers.
  • Are these enough...the excuses I mean??these were what I gave my husband too and he seemed  pretty convinced...at least I like to believe that he was....

The product
It comes in a classic black flip top case with a nice  click to indicate proper locking .Beneath the powder is a compartment which holds a sponge. It also has a mirror which I love.I do not use the sponge often.
I use it with my buffer brush for medium coverage.

What I Love Love Love about it??
  • its a super soft velvety sheer finish powder foundation. The shade I use is NC 42.It gives me a good coverage(medium to full). Its a buildable product. When used with sponge the coverage will be medium to full. When used with kabuki brush the coverage is sheer to medium.
  • No fragrance.
  • The finish is matte and lasts long around 4-5 hours(claims of 8 hours are not really true.Maybe its the weather here :(()
  • Its super easy to use and I love the fact that even novices can use it
  • It does not look cakey if blended well with the kabuki.
  • I do not prime my face everyday since summers have gone...but I moisturize really well ,so it does not flake or dry.
  • It has not broken me out(have been using it for almost a month now).
  • It controls the oiliness well for 4 hours in an AC environment.
  • this is my HG foundation...(as of now)
  • This will really last long... almost One month since used and not even dented yet!!
What I did not like :
There should have been a kabuki brush from MAC alongwith(GRREEEDDYY)).
other than that me cant complain!!
Will I repurchase???
YESSSSSS!!!!
Rating 4.5 /5
-0.5 for no brush
Have you guys used this????
Ty it out!!

I LEARNT SOMETHING NEW!!!!DRYING YOUR BRUSHES

hey all
This post is based on the I learnt something new series.Am sure all of you know how to do this but I just learnt a few new pointers and thought would share them with you.
All Of us know the secret to great makeup in addition to the persons skill of course ,a re the brushes used.
Therefore   its wise to invest in  good quality brushes.I do not own any from MAC ,but from The Body shop,Ambika Pillai, bourjois, and one Sigma brush.(which I will review soon)
Since I do not own any duplicats ,I dread washing my brushes, because then they take long long to dry and am left with nothing to do my makeup:(
So I searched On the internet about the correct way to wash and dry your brushes and here's  what I found......

CARING FOR YOUR BRUSHES :

  • Your makeup brushes will last for many years, or even a lifetime, if well taken care of.  On average brushes should be washed about every two weeks.
  • All Brushes should be washed before first use.And dried completely .only then they should be used. This helps decrease shedding.
  •  For wash ,you can use  a   mild shampoo or anti-bacterial hand cleaner.
  • If your brush is made of natural hair, use a   little hair conditioner mixed in the shampoo/cleanser.  This will keep the bristles soft.
  • Take the shampoo or cleanser into your palm and swish the brushes gently tip first into the palm.then slowlyrun your fingers through the bristles to let the cleanser spread well.
  • Another method would be to make a cleansing solution with shampoo and some water in a  bowl and swirl them in  a bowl
  • for rinsing, gently rub in your fingers to clean all bristles(esp for kabuki /powder thick brushes).
  • Wash till water runs clear. Then squeeze them and wrap the head in a paper towel or a cloth towel...( I use a clothtowel)
  • Make sure not to wet the plastic stem or the part of the bristles closest to the stem.
  • leave them to dry upside down. This is  because leaving them to dry out standing will cause water to seep in the base and will loosen  the glue hold .
  • For kabukis, they should be tied with a rubber bannd around the midlle and then suspended from a  hanger or a hook upside down,so the drying process speeds up!

How often should they be washed..??
Now some sources mention every week,Some mention every 2-3 days...Of course if they are terribly dirty they have to be washed asap!!
Some sites mention they should be washed a s often as we wash our hair..now thats difficult for me,,,,coz I wash my hair practically everyday !!!
What I do is wash them every sunday and then thursday night!!
Another thing that could be done is wash them once a weelk or every 10 days but clean them with a hand cleanser like himalya hand sanitiser or such every 2 days to prevent cakeup of products!!
How did you find the article??how do you guys wash your brushes
.share your tips!!!
P.S the images have been taken from the web.If someone has copyright issues please let me know and I will remove them.

LIZ AND EARLE CLEANSE AND POLISH HOT CLOTH CLEANSER

Hey everyone,Today I will be reviewing a very unique product.....We all have seen and used cleansers and makeup removers  which are creamy ,foamy, scrubby, or oily. The product that I will be reviewing today is a cleanser and makeup remover all in one.
LIZ AND EARLE CLEANSE AND POLISH HOT CLOTH  CLEANSER.

The company's philosophy:

Our principles are the same today as they were on day one.

Our skincare products

Our products really work on every skin type by harnessing the potent powers of the finest quality ingredients. They can really make a positive difference to the health and appearance of your skin.

Simplicity

We don't complicate things. We love simple, fuss-free, gentle and effective products that are honestly priced.

Service

We do everything we can, from the personal way we answer the phone to beautifully hand-wrapping every item. We try never to let you down in all that we do, but if something's not right, call us.

Environment

It's our legacy too, so we're always working on improving our environmental impact. We know we are not perfect but the more we do, the better we get. Read about our environment.

Animal testing

We never do it.
BUAVCruelty free

Patch testing

Our products are formulated to be extremely gentle and are used by many people with sensitive skin. However, as a common sense precaution, we recommend a patch test is carried out at least 24 hours prior to first application. Two of the best places to test are the inside of the upper arm and behind the ear.

Ingredients

High quality, safe, naturally active ingredients are our priority.

Vitamin E

We only use potent, premium natural source vitamin E, never synthetic.

No animal ingredients

None of our ingredients are of animal origin (except beeswax, propolis and manuka honey). All products are suitable for vegetarians.

Only mineral sunscreens

We only use mineral sun filters to provide the best broad-spectrum UV protection and to reduce the risk of skin allergy.

No mineral oils

We prefer plant oils to mineral oils. We don't use mineral oil, paraffin wax, petrolatum or any fractions of crude oil or primary petro-chemicals.

No genetically engineered ingredients

None of our products contain genetically engineered or modified organisms.

Organic ingredients

We 'go organic' wherever we can and our in-house Ethnobotanist supports sustainability and local community growers.

Preservatives

Some of our formulations are preservative-free. We do use preservatives when absolutely essential for product safety. Where natural preservatives are not available, we use relatively low concentrations of the highest grade, broad-spectrum preservatives.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

They only make one cleanser because this formulation is the ultimate in concentrated yet gentle cleansing power and works on every age and skin type.

The plant-based cleanser has a 2-phase action.
  •  phase 1 is the cleansing. Free from mineral oil, it has a rich and creamy texture and swiftly removes all traces of face and eye make-up, even stubborn mascara.
  • Phase 2 is the polishing. Polish off the cream using the pure muslin cloth to help gently dislodge dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.
Naturally active ingredients

Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) - This rich, creamy butter which has moisturising effects on the skin is made from the roasted seeds of the cocoa tree, the same seeds that give us chocolate and cocoa.

Hops Extract (Humulus lupulus) - This herbal extract comes from the pinecone-like fruit of the hop plant and has astringent and toning properties.

Rosemary Essential Oil/Extract (Rosmarinus officinalis) - This renowned and once sacred herb has been used for centuries in beauty preparations. Rosemary essential oil has a fresh pungent aroma and is very invigorating and stimulating. The extract has beneficial antioxidant properties.

Chamomile Essential Oil/Extract (Anthemis nobilis) - This herb takes its name from the Greek kamai (ground) and melon (apple) because of the sweet apple-like fragrance it releases when trodden on. The essential oil is considered a gentle oil by aromatherapists and medical herbalists have used chamomile for soothing the skin for centuries.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Eucalyptus globulus) - Native to Australia, eucalyptus shoots are a favourite food of the koala. The cooling essential oil produced from the leaves and twigs has decongestant properties and is used by aromatherapists to ease muscular aches and pains.

D-panthenol - Otherwise known as pro-vitamin B5, this B vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the skin and has a moisturising effect. It also helps stimulate cellular renewal.

Glycerin - The glycerin we use is always vegetable derived. It is a humectant (attracts water), drawing atmospheric water onto the skin to aid hydration.

Beeswax (Cera alba) - The beeswax used in Naturally Active Skincare comes from the honeycombs in which bees store their pollen. It has skin protecting properties and helps to relieve chapped skin.

Other ingredients

At Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare we always try to use high quality, safe, naturally active ingredients. The other ingredients in this product are:

My Experience with the product:
The sample sent to me was a 30 ml tube.It came along with a  muslin cloth. It was wrapped very prettily in a butter paper with a sticker label saying LIZ EARLE(soorryy forgot to take pictures)
There was a very sweet handwritten not along with it  too...That had me there completely....A very nice personal touch..:)

The Cleanser was a thick creamy paste like substance mildly smelling of eucalyptus.....It spreads easily on the face and neck and gets absorbed quickly
There was no oiliness at all.
The 2nd step involves soaking the muslin cloth in hand hot water and after wringing  it  use it as a polisher..over the face.
And oh boy is it effective???
you bet it is
When I trie The product for the first time.,i did so in the morning after getting up.
I had wiped my makeup at night with my regular makeup cleanser, which I fell errrr.. felt is really effective.
I had not expected anything to show on the muslin cloth atuially since My face was bare and well cleansed last night..
But this is what I saw....

EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
and I thought I cleast my face  the previous night!!!!!

What I loved
  • it is easily absorable and non oily.
  • tube form,so hygiene mantianed,
  • Doesn't dry out my skin.
  • Doesn't break me out  or clog my pores
  • the smell is subtle and not overpowering.
  • cleans every last trace of makeup :)))).
  •  No anmial testing or ingredients..
  •  Only a tiny amount is sufficient for the entire face and neck so  will go a long way.
What I did not like
  • some lazy people (like me ) do not like to wash the cloth and dry it before next use :P
  • its available only online..
Overall verdict
This is a very unique concept and very  effective too.The price is a bit on the higher side but would be worth every penny if it is available in india and not only online..:)
have you tried it....to buy it visit their site here

AROMA THERAPY FOR SKIN AND HAIR-essential oils!!

I am a very fragrance oriented person.I love fragranced skin care products...am a sucker for them actually.dont like smells in  my makeup though.
I have been using aroma therapy facials at the parlour I regularly visit and they are so so relaxing.
So thoday I will be doing a post on my favorite essential oils.

Essential oils!
The principle of aromatherapy is based on the human sense of smell and how different smells affect our mind and body. Aromatherapy uses different scented oils to stimulate different parts of the body. The olfactory nerves are situated in the nasal cavity and transfer smells to that part of the brain where emotions lie. Each essential oil used has a distinct effect on our body and mind.

Aromas have a way of releasing certain chemicals in our body which in turn give rise to many emotions. Chemicals like endorphins, enkephalin and serotonin are released by the introduction of various aromas. These chemicals released in the body make us relax, reduce pain and give us a sense of wellbeing. The olfactory nerves transfer the smells to the limbic system in our brain immediately. That is why aromatherapy has an immediate effect on us.
Getting started with aromatherapy is not difficult but there are a lot of different essential oils available and combining them can achieve different effects.
The modes of application of aromatherapy include:
  • Aerial diffusion: for environmental fragrancing or aerial disinfection
  • Direct inhalation: for respiratory disinfection, decongestion, expectoration as well as psychological effects
  • Topical applications: for general massage, baths, compresses, therapeutic skin care

Aromatherapy has been used for many years as alternative medicine. It has been used to treat many symptoms of stress and anxiety as most essential oils have a calming effect. Some essential oils are used in creams to treat skin infections and sores. These oils are extracted from different parts of plants and can be added in many mediums like creams, soaps, perfumes and pot pourri. It is important to know how aromatherapy works before you practice it on yourself.

How I use my essential oils!!

I usually use lavender, lemon, rosemary, patchouli ylangylang and sage

For skin
  • I usually add few drops of lavender and rosrmary when I steam my face...also sometimes I use eucalyptus.
  • lemongrass  and rosemary are  a good pore closer.so i keep it added to my toner.I am using TBS sea weed at present
  • In my daily moisturiser/body cream  I add lavender..this can be done only in an unscented lotion ideally.I usually do it  for my  nivea body cream mostly.
  • I also add lavender or patchouli to my night cream. This helps in a blissful  sleep.
  • I use lavender on my pillow as well..  sometimes i use ylang ylang or patchouli.
For hair.
I usually add lavender again for  a calming effect on hair.
othr uses for hair metioned as below:

Lavender is great for soothing the scalp and calming the hair.
Basil promotes growth by stimulating circulation. Basil is used in shampoos and conditioners that are designed for scalp health.
Chamomile is the most soothing of the essential oils for the hair and scalp. Chamomile helps to retract skin cells that have been inflamed from chemical procedures, the sun and helps with those that have scaly scalps in including a lot of white flakes or psoriasis.
Lemon Essential oil works well for a treatment for dry scalp, dandruff, lice, and under active sebaceous glands. The sebum on the hair is what keeps it from dry out.
Peppermint helps to stimulate blood flow to the root of the hair. This helps the hair to receive proper nourishment and to grow correctly. Peppermint makes the scalp tingle and this is what stimulates the blood flow to the hair.
Rosemary essential oil works great for dry hair and dandruff as well as itchy scalp!

Tea Tree essential oils works to purify the scalp. It works extremely good for those that suffer from scalp psoriasis and scalp dandruff.
Ylang Ylang essential oils for Oily hair and dandruff treatment.
Always remember that you cannot use these essential oils for hair direct to your hair, but you should mixed with carrier oils first.

I have not used rosemary for the hair  or the others ut am planning to try it out...wil let you know...

Also everyday I usually burn essential oil in oil burners for my home for amazing fragrnace all arounnd....
Here I use cinnamon,sandalwood, lemongrass...jasmine ,lavender etc...

DO you guys use essential oils for any purpose??
tell me!!

hello preeeetttyyyy women,how r u doing??

MATTIFY COSMETICS is a company which  is a specialist in making products for oily skin.
They have a wide range of base and eye products.

Price:7.999USD
Quantity..30 gm

My experience with the product.
When I saw this powder for the first time,I was really apprehensive about how it would look.It was stark white.I thought it would make me look washed out and white like a ghost....
But Was I wrong???"
this beautiful powder.just covered my face in a pretty glow.and nothing OTT at all...I was pretty awed so to say..The first time I did have my foundation on ,so I was not convinced its  only the powder. The next morning I used it over my moisturiser and the glow was there again.
My face is a oily usually after 2 hours, especially in non ac areas.
With this powder ,It was oil free for 5 -6 hours in humid mumabi weather. After 6 hours also I only neeed a touch up which lasted for 3 hours more...When used over my foundation it gives a pretty good matte effect.

I had used it over my MAc satinfinish which is pretty glowy...it just emphasisied the glow but decreased the oiliness.
I have been using it since the past 8 odd days now and am falling in love.<3 <3

What I loved about the powder:

  • The powder is a very fine powder.
  • It is very light and does not feel heavy at all.
  • I use my buffer brush to apply it and it spreads very easily.
  • Very good oil control.
  • Gives a beautiful glow without the shine
  • very little amount used ,so will last long.
  • did not break me out.
  • does not cake on the face.
  •  no fragrance  to it,which makes it better for me.
  •  reasonable for the amount of powder.
  •  photos well
What I have a problem with.
  •  Its claims of an 8 hour matte effect is maybe fine for colder temperate climates, but in india, esp in mumbai its only4- 5 hours on a average
  • No spf
  • its not travel friendly.have to carry my brush along now.
  • Its loose powder and a bit messy if not used well , might lead to wastage.
MY RATING 4.5/5 ...............-.5 for no spf.
Mattify cosmetics has a wonderful range of products for oily skin as well as beautiful long lasting eyeshadows.

What the website says about the product:

A fresher, glowing complexion will emerge after using one of our gentle facial scrubs. fine particles of oatmeal & almonds gently lifts dead skin cells whilst replenishing the skins natural oils.
INGREDIENTS - Avena Sativa, Prunus Amygdalus Var. Dulcus, Apis Mellifera, Prunus Amygdalus Var
mixed with water
 My Experience with the scrub:
THis face scrub comes in a royal  blue glass jar with a steel screwable lid. There is a small tag like  instruction leaflet attached with a string which i found Oh So cute!!!!
Fragrance:
On pening the jar , there is no strong smell which is obvious, however on sniffing I found it to be like  a dairy smell.....something i would co relate with hmmmm...a milky smell with some herbs....which kind of dissappointed me.But to their credit, there was no artifiical smell either.
This is apparently made of oat meal and almonds, which I guess form the scrub part of it.
TEXTURE
The appearance of the product is grainy. However ,on touch the granules are very soft, not like hard scrubby ones.
USAGE
Take a tsp of the product in a plate.
add 1 tsp water /rose water and mix well
apply on face
leave for 2 minutes
wet hands and scrub the mask well. wash off with water
I did not have rose water with me...so I use water. And applied it as instructed.. however,I left it for 5 minutes
RESULTS
My skin was glowing  after day one first use,I kid you not.It also felt smooth to touch .
after using the 2nd day consecutively...I found the same result...I have used it only for 4 days as of now everyday...and loove it.
Whether there are any long term effects still remains to be seen..;)
What I loved about it:

  1. smooth  skin.
  2. gives a glow.
  3. mild enough according to me to use everyday...(this has not been mentioned on the pack or anywhere else on the site ,So i assumed that was the case since its a herbal product!!!)
  4. no drying of skin
  5. did not break me out.
  6. No artificial fragrance
  7. This product is more like the Ubtan our mothers used to make us use when we were young....IT smells like the besan-malai thingy mom put n my face.....I told my mom that and she was so amused....that I remembered it ...I hated it back then..and now I will do anything o have my young skin back!!!LOL
  8. very small amount needed at a time ,so will go a long way
  9. P.S My hubby used it too and he loves it too:P
What I Did not like about the  product
  1. I am a sucker for wow fragrances,so would want a ice smelling product on my face...however this is easily corrected with rose water.
  2.  expensive Rs 650 for 50 gm of product
  3. Jar form ..hygiene issue..however they have mentioned use a spoon.....
  4. a biit time consuming esp on a weekday morning..I have been using it in the evenings:P
would I repurchase  yes ..when I get  a chance to get to  the store..

MAKARI DE SUISSE EXFOLIATING ANTISEPTIC SOAP.. A REVIEW.

I had received a few products from Makari de suisse...a few days ago..and was trying out their products to give you guys a review.
The product  that i will review today is the MAKARI DE SUISSE EXFOLIATING SOAP.

Heres what the website mentions
What it is:An exfoliating soap for face and body.
What it is formulated to do:Designed to effectively cleanse, brighten, and even tone the skin while providing resurfacing benefits. Gentle enough to use daily, this unique formula is formulated with ingredients designed to lighten and protect the skin with topical antioxidants as it helps condition the skin and retain its moisture level
My experience.
The soap sent to me was a hexagonal pinkish beige colore soap with brown granules.

INGREDIENTS :
Sodium Palmate, Sodium Kernelate, Water, Fragrance, Glycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Triclosan, Mulberry Extract, Prunus Armenica Extract, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid

What i absolutely loved about the soap..
  1. its fragrance....as soon as I opened it ,there was a wonderful musky  spicy fragrance which emanated from the small cute hexagonal box.
  2. The texture is smooth with scrub granules dispersed evenly.
  3. the effect...it does give a nice squeaky clean finish, when I use it on my body.
  4. I have used this over my dark elbows and over the outer ankles..which get dark usually..I did notice a good exfoliating effect..and lightening of my ankles.the elbows are marginally lightened as of now....but with regular use ,I do expect a change.
  5. My skin did not break out/peel .
What I did not like
The granules cold be a bit harsh for the face and delicate areas..I tried it on the face once and then found it a bit harsh for the face.
however it does work as a superb exfoliator for the body.

Overall verdict.:
heavenly smelling ,good exfoliating  for the rough arreas like elbow and the ankles...
