me myself and my lip color!!

Hello all ,
I came across this qoute and loved it..

"If I had to teach someone just one thing about lip color it would be this: Find a lipstick that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no makeup." -- Bobbi Brown, "Beauty"

As you all know am a huge lipstick hoarder....I keep on hoarding lipsticks whenever possible..am also a foundatio hoarder ,but that is another post worthy....
A few days ago, I was  just sitting and staring at my lipstick collection...( i do that often...:P),I realised to my shock that most of the shades owned by me are berry /brown berry/mauve toned colors. What happens is whnever I buy a lip color (which is very often),I am scared to experiment.I play safe with these shades because they know they would look goood on me....
Ashamed to inform you I have no.Reds/Corals/oranges in my collection.
Whenever the SA shows me a red ,i wince and pass the shade.Ditto for the orange /coral shades.

So i thought about doing this post. What lip colors would suit you??what are your safe ones ?which are the ones to avoid....??

While picking the right shade is as easy as going a couple shades darker than your natural lip color, we can delve just a wee bit deeper in the science of shades and skin tone.

Women with fair skin, look great in lipstick shades such as nudes in a slightly apricot shade, pinks and light corals. Stay away from browns, which will appear meh!!

fair katie!
Those with a medium skin tone can go a bit darker. You'll look great in roses, mauves and berries. Skip the bright reds and consider a deep burgundy instead. ( i fall here)...

fair--medium skin tones
Deep plum, chocolate or red is fabulous with dark skin.

beautiful dusky skin...

How to Pick the Right Shade of Red

Many women wrongly believe they can't wear red lipstick. The secret to choosing the right red lip color is in the undertones. Pink-skinned girls should opt for cherry red.medium skin tones can go for burgundy and wine... Those with olive skin can wear fire-engine red. Dark skin looks great with deep reds.

I have now decided to hunt for my perfect red....burgundy according to this post....:)
letting go of your inhibitions is the key i think..for me at least...:)

What are your fav lip color shades??
Do you own reds /orages??

Nice post. I agree that most of us play safe by wearing the same colors always but dont experiment with brighter shades. Thanks for the eye opener :)

Hey!

I'm medium toned too, and I love a burgundy mouth! Am not sure if its quite burgundy, but I use lakme's berry matte whenever I want a strong maroon lip shade!

For me mauves are out of my comfort zone! Trying to include them now.

@shweta...me cant use light colors since am wheatish...
abt cherry red i think it will depend upon the undertone of the skin the fair person has..yellow toned(which most of us would be)will clash with the cherry red...pink tones can carry it off!!
