MY FIRST EOTD

Helloooo all,
As you all know I am not very good at eye makeup..:(
have been watching so any eotds and tutorials for getting my hand right..!!!!
SO here goes my first EOTD
had forgotten to apply eyeliner here;P
products used, from L-R ambika pillai crease brush, ambika pillai dome brush ,Maybelline e/s quad chai latte ,mac graph black,Maxfactor experience water proof mascara

Here's how I did it
After moisturising the face and priming, I applied the concealer and foundation over my face and eyelids.
I primed my lids with BEYU eye primer.
Using the dome brush I applied the LID color from the quad all over the lid.
Then the crease color over the crease and inner corner.
the dark brown over the outer half.
The highlighter over the brow bone.
I then applied MAc graph black over the lower and upper lash lines..I know it could have been more intense and way neater...:((((
Then I curled my eyelashes using VEGA eyelash curler and applied the mascara 2 coats..
There done!!!!
Since it is my virgin EOTD ;p,please excuse the photos and the incomplete tutorial.
Also would welcome any suggestions/criticisms please.....since am new to this
:)))))

CHAMBOR BRIGHTENING SMOOTHENING FOUNDATION WET AND DRY

Hey ladies,
Am back after a long break and am going to be reviewing  the Chambor Foundation wet and dry, which I had purchased around 20 days ago!
Summers a re here and in <Mumbai,,,are they BAD!!! I was finding my MAC satinfinish  a tad too heavy and shiny for the day....So went to buy a compact .At The chambor counter ended up seeing this product and loving it..Tried it and loved it.......
Here is a look
the product is yellower than this in real life!!!!!Looks very pinkish here!!r

What the company claims:
Velvety rich powder foundation which gives a the skin a sophisticated look.
Its a Foundation with Whitening action & finish.
Its main USP is the Dual Usage .
dry sponge for moist & natural finish and wet sponge for matte & covering finish
  • Enriched with Vitamin A, C, E & SPF 12
  • Imparts whitening action
  • Helps reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture
  • Natural Make up
  • Has soft application feel
  • Water resistant Long Lasting
  • Non Comedogenic
  • No animal ingredients
  • Dermatologist & Ophthalmologist Tested
  • Shades available
  1. dual cashew101
  2. Dual walnut 103
there is a  no 102 also which was not available with my SA so don't know the name. :(

Made My Wallet Lighter By: 925 INR for 15 gm of product
The product: It comes in a rectangular  navy blue box which opens to reveal the powder foundation in a compartment with the sponge in the adjacent one. There is a mirror in the lid( which I LOVEEEEEEEEE)...
I brought the shade Walnut 103 , the cashew looked too white on me although it would look lovely on fairer skin tones.

USAGE:
  • The powder foundation can be used dry for a sheer natural look. When I did that the coverage was minimal but it had good oil control.

  • I also used it over my MAC satinfinish and was amazed by the shine control(without too much of a matte look),oil control and the pretty semi matte finish I got>It was amazing
  • I also tried it by moistening the sponge a bit .The application then goes on thick and gives decent coverage, but it makes the face look very matte and chalky
SO I now use it only as  dry powder either over my moisturizer and primer , or over my satinfiish foundation.

LASTING POWER
This is an amazing product in terms of lasting. When used dry alone or with MAC satinfinish it makes my makeup stay on for at least 8-10 hours in the sweltering heat of mumbai....lovve it.....

What I Love
  • the shade suits my complexion to the T.Am a nc 42-43 in MAC.
  • It is long lasting
  • No fragrance
  • Love the mirror
  • Can be used alone as well as a compact over foundation.( I use it both ways)
  • small effective sponge comes along with the powder.
  • Can also be appiled as a loose powder with a brush.
  • very compact and travel friendly.
What I don't Love
  • When used without a moisturizer it does look chalky. So for those with very dry skin, a lot of moisturizer may be needed or they might have to use it as a wet foundation.
  • limited shades.
  • Pricey!!!!
  • Also if used with a heavy hand may look OTT.

Will I repurchase :::YES!!!!
RATING:5/5 from me.....Yes  I do love it....

Do you guys have this product????? If not try it out.....Its good!!!!!

Fashion and you...Whats the story????

hello ladies.....after the good ,now the not so good!!!
When I posted about my brushes this morning, boy,WAS I haaaapppppyyy??
Finally to have found a site like f and u ,which was so prompt in delivery and so meticulous in packaging...But then ,the bubble broke....:(
I happened to visit Rads site here MY WEEKEND RAMBLINGS and read this. Then Sanjeev from IMBB posted this here.
So what is the truth....what is the story????
My DH has always been against online shopping ...always.....and I have argued that the whole world does it,So why not me????
but are online shopping sites safe??
I was also interested in buying from strawberry.net  last year, but then I read some terrible reviews and kept away...Am Pretty confused right now...
Torn between the two..To shop or not to shop,is the BIG question.
Only If these sites show some honesty and work ethics, would they prosper and let us Indians take advantage of them, since all these products we die for are not available here...or are cheaper online...
I think, its the cheaper tag that attracts us,for in a city like Mumbai ,very few things would be unavailable.

So what should be done??Should we boycott them or ignore their flaws????
Am boycotting fashion and you for now...the rest ,hhmmmm,I don't know yet.Haven't done online shopping much...

What do you guys think???
let me know

BRONZERS WHAT ARE THEY????????????

Hello ladies.

The other day,my blogger friend Tanveer of Addicted to Blush blogged about the new lakme fantasy shimmer bronzer. That was when I realised I dont own any and did not even know how to use one.(made a faux pass when I asked her if she uses it as a blusher or over her t zone heheheheh). She was gracious enought not to say DUH!! coz she knows am a newbie ;P  thanks tanveer!!.I then realised that once at MAC palladium the MUA had applied a light non shimery thingie to my T zone which she said was the bronzer!!!.SO am totally confused...decided to read up on it and here is what I came up with on the net..

  •    Fair – choose a honey colored bronzer
  •     Medium – enhanced by a rose-bronze or gold flecked bronzer
  •      Dark – look best with a “true” bronze such as tawny or amber. Can also shine with a gold flecked bronzer.
  •  Avoid orange bronzers in general..

Bronzers refer to both sunless tanning creams/sprays and powders used strategically on the face and body to get a sunny glow. Products are getting easier to use, better at conveying a natural look and eliminating possibility of user error, but there are still some basic things you should keep in mind when applying bronzer.

Consistency is another factor to consider when choosing a bronzer. Choose a cream for dry skin since powder can look chalky and dry and pressed or loose powder for normal, combination and oily skin.

    On the Face
If you want a simple sun-kissed look, go for a powder bronzer. First, you’ll want to search out a bronzer that is right for your skin tone. There are a ton to choose from, almost too many, so do a little research to see what other people have tried and already determined which ones look best on whom. When you’ve got your perfect bronzer, you want to apply it to areas that the sun would naturally hit first. This includes the cheekbones, the nose, the chin and the forehead—it’s not technically the face, but you can even hit the collar bones. This will give you a great glow when you just need a little more twinkle to your look. But, be careful about too much sparkle during the day—you don’t want people to need sunglasses in order to look at you!

If you are using a cream on your face, make sure your skin is clean and dry; then begin working in a dime sized amount in small circles, staying away from eyes and eye-lids. Stop at the jaw-line, but also make sure you have blended well to avoid a hard line. For best results, exfoliate your skin beforehand—moisturize, then allow twenty minutes to a half hour for the moisturizer to absorb. This creates a smooth surface to begin on.

    On the Body
If you’ve never used a bronzer before, it’s best to go with a lighter one to see how it looks and then go darker from there if you want. Bronzers for the body come in sprays as well as creams, so choose whatever sounds easiest for you to apply. Again, before you begin application, make sure your skin is clean and dry. Also, make sure you are well moisturized—if you have patches of dry skin, the bronzer will want to absorb more in that area, creating a darker spot. As with the face, use a moisturizer and allow a good twenty minutes to make sure it’s totally absorbed. Next, put on a shower cap and protective gloves so the palms of your hands don’t get stained. Then begin massaging into skin evenly. Use remainder of lotion on skin to work into ankles and knees.

What are Bronzers and how do you Use Them?
    bronzing pearls(source..the net)

It’s summertime and the product that can polish off all summer makeup looks is a facial bronzer. Unlike bronzers from the past, today’s bronzers create a more natural glow and, contrary to popular belief, are not only for darker skin tones and can be worn year round. Some of the benefits of using a facial bronzer include attaining a sunny tan without the harmful effects (wrinkles, sunspots, sunburn and skin cancer), adjusting color to individual preference and washing off color at the end of the day. The end effect is a fun, healthy glow that can enhance all skin tones.
Which bronzers do you guys use if at all??? let me know...:)

MAYBELLINE WHITESTAY UV BASE IN PURPLE

hello all, as you guys know I recently purchased the Maybelline whitestay UV base .This is a primer/makeup base .

What is Maybelline Whitestay UV Base? as mentioned on the bottle)
    • The first step to perfect your makeup finish .Instantly enhances skin’s natural luminosity and provides natural radiance all day.
    • Superior UV protection – SPF 35 PA +++ Dermatologist tested
    • Allergy tested
    • Non-comedogenic /won’t clog pores
    • Fragrance free
    • It is available in 3 shades:
    • White – for people with normal skin(TheSA said this was for very fair skintones)
    • but there is also a pink which is for people with p ink undertones(she did not have this one)????
    • Purple – neutralizes yellow skin undertones ( I bought this one)
    • Green- neutralizes redness of skin (rosacea etc..)
Made my wallet lighter by:Rs 300/-

    Quantity: 30ml

Packaging : Small bottle with a nozzle.
    • The product: very light purple tinged lotion .spreads easliy and leaves a  very dewy glow.( in photos though without makeup it made me look slightly whitish). It did neutralise my yellow undertone but this left me with a whitish cast(ONLY IN PHOTOS). .I tried it  next time with lesser amount for a sheer coverage and there was no whitish cast.So use only a tiny amount and spread well.
    •  After applying loose powder, the glow vanished but so did the whitish cast(IN PHOTOS).
    • In matural light there is just a dewy look ,no cast seen.
    • A primer is usually used to minimize apperance of pores.I have large pores too,but did not  see them smaller at all :((
    • Fairly controlled my oil ...had to touch up very few times
    • Made my makeup stay on longer than i expected......Its humid in mumbai and after a while my base makeup along with my blush vanishes. After this makeup base,it stayed for 4-5 hours.
fragnance : none (have a cold could not make out any).

     PROS
    light ,non oily base
    Dewy glow.
has SPF 35+++.would work great as a suscreen.
    Non comedogenic.
did not make me break out.
    decently priced.
    Increases make up staying power.
    no fragrance.
    fairly good oil control.

    CONS
whitish cast in pictures(if clicked without loose powder).
no decrease in size of pores.

RATING : 4/5 :::-1 for no effect on pores which was the main reason I thought of buying it.
REPURCHASE: am looking at MAC primer or NYX next.....so mostly nnah!!

Overall a decent makeup base for prolonging makeup stay.Do not expect it to do much in terms of pore closure or evening out your skintone.

which primer do u use...??let me know!!

    LAKME FANTASY COLLECTION CHEEK ARTIST

    hello everyone .

..I will be reviewing the cheek artist Kiss Of Rose from the LAKME FANTASY COLLECTION.This has been reviewed by almost everyone ,but I am going to have a very small review and post the picture. The picture , in fact is sooo yummm..that it has prompted me to do this mini post....
    The product
The LAKME CHEEK ARTIST in 'kiss of a rose 'is a cream blush .  It comes in small tube like packaging,to be used in a twisting fashion. It has  a lid over the blush per se, beneath the cap , to prevent trauma to the creamy blush..
Wanted to buy the NYX cream blush ...but after this (also considering , its cheaper)I don't know whether I will buy NYX...Or I might still buy it  ;p

    creammmyyyyyyyyy ain't it??

And Is it creammmmmy or what..Its super soft easily blendable and spreads easily.I use my fingers to apply it , but use a hand sanitizer before every use too.
It gives me a natural flush. Its pretty buildable though, so you can also use it for office or a party look as the occasion demands.
It lasts pretty long for 3 hours - 4 hours (but that was in the A.c) have not tried it in a non AC  environment.
Also I used my colorbar peach blush over this which lasted for almost 6 -7 hours.

One CON  ;the creaminess might lead to damage sometimes if one is not careful.
Also the box  mentions that it is to be applied directly on to the cheeks, which IMHO ,is going to be disastrous.
I am definitely going to repurchase this.,...

    Rating 5/5

     bye everyone

LAKME NINE TO FIVE DUAL ACTION MAKEUP REMOVER

    hello beautiful people,
today I will be reviewing LAKME NINE TO  FIVE DUAL ACTION MAKEUP REMOVER.  I bought my first bottle 3 months ago and am on my second bottle now.(which Ipurchased 3 days ago.).

    ABOUT THE  PRODUCT:
LAKME NINE TO  FIVE DUAL ACTION MAKEUP REMOVER : Removes all kind of face, lip and eye makeup.

The Packaging: It comes in a pink plastic spray bottle which is covered with a cap.The solution inside is transparent and double layered i.e thin solution at the bottom and an oily solution on the top. Before use,it sholud be shaken very well so that the two mix and beome one solution..To use , simply remove the cap, spritz on cotton wool and wipe off makeup.

Fragrance:...sweetish...like most of  lakme products.(to me, It smells like acetone)

Made My Wallet Lighter By: Rs 295/-

    Quantity: 120 ml.

    My experience with the product:
All in all, I have had a fairly good experience with the product. It  removes my face and lip makeup in a single swipe ,but for eyemakeup I need to swipe it 2-3 times, which acc. to me .defeats the purpose of eyemakeup remover. Before this I was using the eye makeup remover from ORIFLAME ad a single swipe was all it took to make my eyes akeup free. The only drawback with the oriflame was the availibility ,so I had to try out other brands and I stumbled across this one.

    PROS
    Spray bottle ,so no wastage.
Lasts pretty long, my first one lasted for  a good 3 months.
Works really well for face and lips.
    Does not sting my  eyes.
    Pretty reasonably priced.

    CONS:
Not a great eye makeup remover.
Sweetish smell which many may not like.
What is the meaning of dual action (face and eyes?????).Did not get that and the SA had no clue as well.

Will I repurchase?? yes, till I find an oriflame cosultant..Actually as I mentioned earlier am on my second bottle. Also I will continue using it for the face and use Oriflame for eye makeup.
    Rating:
    3.5/5
-1 for poor eye makeup removal.-0.5 for the smell.
Whiich eyemakeup remover do you guys use?? Let me know!!!

THE BODY SHOP SEAWEED CLEANSER,TONER AND DAY CREAM..REVIEWS

    hello everyone ,
today I will review 3 products together. These 3 products belong to the same family of skin care, from The Body Shop
I had purchased them around  2 weeks ago and have been using them since then regularly
    They are :
    1. The Body shop SEA WEED  purifying cleanser.
    2. The Body ShopSEA WEED clarifying toner.
    3. The Body Shop SEA WEED mattifying cream.
I will review the Cleanser and toner first.

Both the products belong to the sea weed range which is for combination to oily skin(my skin belongs to this type).
Both come in a bottle with a flip top.Pretty sturdy packaging and the locking is perfect. No spills(have carried them in my bag too, when i travelled.)Only little bulky for day to day carrying e.g to work.
The quantity is    200      ml each
MADE MY WALLET LIGHTER BY  :Rs 545/- EACH

FRAGRANCE:Both of the have a very pleasant mild fragrance, nothing overpowering. Its like the ocean and very ummmmmmmmm..misty..love it..

    TEXTURE

CLEANSER it has  a smooth milky texture.Neither too thick, nor too runny.spreads easily.
I find it very effective as a cleanser.Have been using it to remove my makeup also, of late, and find it really nice.NOT OILY at all.NO sticky after feel
Once or twice ,I used it to clean my eye makeup(I had run out of my regular eye makeup remover) and it worked superbly well.NO stinging the eyes.Am now planning to continue this as my eye makeup remover too.But for all,who want to try this as an eye MU remover, please try it a bit first on your eyes.

TONER  :is like any other toner.Clear in appearance and beautifully fragranced.
IT works very well to close my pores.NOW you might find this next line a bit  weird, when i use this ,I always get a tingling sensation on my face esp in my Tzone.I never got it with my previous toner(neutrogena).I feel my product is working on me.I loveeeeee it...:)
I noted that this cleanser does not make me feel dry or itch at my face after application.I used to feel strecthy on my face after my previous one.
It almost immediately gives a glow to the face and refreshes it.
    Rating
    Cleanser 5/5
    Toner 5/5
Will I buy again???? both products yes ,definitely the toner though...love the feel!!

    AND NOW THE CREAM
THE BODY SHOP SEA WEED MATTIFYING  DAY CREAM  FOR COMBINATION OILY SKIN

    ABOUT THE PRODUCT:
    (from the site)
An easily absorbed, non-clogging, oil-free, hydrating gel-like moisture cream. It controls excess sebum and shine whilst delivering essential moisture to areas most in need, balancing the skin throughout the day. Leaves skin feeling fresh, clean, soft and supple with a shine free, matte complexion.

MADE MY WALLET LIGHTER BY: Rs 695/-!!! l
    QUANTITY : 50 ml!!
PACKAGING: It comes in a tub form, which in my opinion is extremely unhygienic. On opening the lid there is another cover which prevents leakage.
FRAGRANCE:Oceanic and misty..very similar to the cleanser toner
    TEXTURE:
the consistency is gel like ,though not clear gel.Its slightly milky.
    MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE CREAM:
This cream is for mattifying and giving a oil free look.On using it:
It  spreads very  easily. There is a very small amount needed for application.
It is not sticky on application  but takes a long time to get absorbed into my skin. around 4-5 minutes for complete absorption. The first time I thought it was because the quantity taken by me was more than needed, but even if I take a small amount,IT does not dry up quickly.
It does not form a sticky layer after absorption though.while applying it feels good and refreshing.
I was expecting it to have good amount of oil control.SADLY, that's not the case.and my skin, mind you is not really oily!!!!
I did not get a dry  stretchy feel either which I get with other gels..but as far as mattifiaction is concerned ,NADA!!!
    PROS:Few really!!!
    • Only feels smooth and goes on slick.
    • Makes me refreshed

    CONS!!
No mattifiaction (that's the primary claim!!)
    Poor oil control
Takes time to assimilate into the skin..
very expensive for the effect achieved
NO SPF!!and its a day cream!!!!!!!!
No change in my skin ( I have gotten very good results with Loreal white day cream...like a glow after using it for 3-4 days.feeling my skin texture improve ..etc..

Will i buy it again : NO way!!!! totally not value for money

Do you own any of these products??
    What are your experiences....???
    Tell me  soon!!
    bye for now

The Body Shop Loose Powder review

    hey everybody.........
as you all know I had hauled some TBS products a few days ago.One of them was the TBS loose powder,on the advice of Ankita from Corallista makeup blog here .Thanks Ankita, its awesome.
I have an combination oily skin which tends to become more oily in the summers.I also have started using the MAc satinfinish mineralize foundation, which is very dewy.

So needed a loose powder to set my makeup .I used to think that loose powders are for light coverage and pressed ones for a more opaque one.Boy,was i wrong. Karen of makeupandbeautyblog.com has this video where she talks about both .Check it out here .

    ABOUT THE PRODUCT
The powder comes in a small plastic box with a screw able steel lid.On opening the lid there is a plastic lid with holes covered with a plastic film.
The film has to be removed prior to use.
QUANTITY: 14 gm. expiry date 36 months

MAKES  MY WALLET LIGHTER BY RS 800/-INR.

    Here is a look

    • The TBS Loose powder in shade 03,is a super fine loose powder. It gives a medium to full coverage(depends on application).
    • It gives a matte look after application and makes my T zone oil free.
    • It helps to set my makeup .
    • I usually use it over my MAC satinfinish mineralize foundation.
    • I have also used it on my  naked face without foundation.I conceal my dark circles and use only the powder, which gives a super glow to my face which is oil free..
    PROS
    soft,silky feel
    Good coverage
    Mattifies the face
Keeps makeup on longer (definitely, for 5-6 hours). This is especially good for people who live in humid climates.e.g mumbai.

    CONS
    • The case has holes which has to be tilted for the powder to reach the brush. This causes wastage and I hate that coz its not cheap at all.
    • There is no brush available.Currently I use my TBS powder brush.
    • Price for quantity of product is too much.

    Rating 4/5..so many cons!
